| Does VR Commander use Microsoft Voice Recognition technology? No, VR Commander uses an enterprise class continuous speech voice recognition engine that is proprietary and can not be disclosed at this time. This technology is the finest in its class. In fact, as we stated on our home page, this technology is even used to command and control some of today's most advanced fighter aircraft. See the product page for more information on VR Commander's unique characteristics. How can VR Commander support Bluetooth microphones when other similar applications can not? VR Commander's voice recognition engine contains a sophisticated noise rejection technology that allows it to decipher commands from background noise in a manner other technologies simply can't match. In the past and with other systems, Bluetooth microphones are discouraged due to their non-directional pick up and poor noise rejection qualities. VR Commander features noise rejection as a user defined setting which allows for optimization with Bluetooth microphones. See the user guide for settings to optimize for use with Bluetooth microphones. Does VR Commander require the user to train the system to recognize the user's voice? No, VR Commander is a speaker independent system. User training is not required to get accurate results. See our user guide for more information on optimizing the user settings for your application. How can I get technical support? Please send an email to support@vrcommander.com. We encourage users to read the user guide and check this web site for more information. What is the best way to evaluate VR Commander? VR Commander comes with an evaluation template built into the installation script. The evaluation template uses Notepad to test commands. The user guide and this website includes an evaluation tips section. Follow the steps and give it a try. How do I get software updates? Software updates will be provided free of charge to licensed users of VR Commander. When a new version is available, the user must download it from this website. VR Commander's licensing technology automatically transfers the user's license to the new version. See the Upgrade Guide for details. What microphones do you recommend? VR Commander supports most microphones including Bluetooth microphones. Please refer to the user guide and system requirements page on this website for more details. Can my company purchase a site license? Site licenses and multi user licenses are available. Please contact Support@vrcommander.com for more information. Can I order VR Commander over the telephone? No, VR Commander uses Protexis as itsg secure on-line ordering processor. This is the most secure method to purchase VR Commander for our customers. Where can I find the Quick Start Guide? The Quick Start Guide is located in two places. 1. On this website you can get to it by clicking here. 2. A copy is downloaded with every installation of VR Commander. Get to the guide by going to the Windows Start Menu>All Programs> VR Commander>Quick Start Guide. A Desktop shortcut is also provided. I am getting an error message: "could not initialize recognition topics-TEMPLATE" - How can I fix this? This error message occurs typically due to a template file being corrupted. This may happen if the user alters the template .ccm file inappropriately. For example, the user opens a template file in notepad and makes changes that are not allowed to the file. Most likely the corrupted file will have to be removed. The file can be deleted from the Templates folder located at: local disk>program files>vrcommander>Templates. Do not move or rename the Templates folder (this will also create the error message). Close and restart VR Commander. The remaining templates should operate and load normally. Contact support if the problem persists. I am getting lag times between commands. How can I adjust VR Commander so that I can better play twitch games such as Descent or Doom? VR Commander is programmable to accept single commands only or allow continuous commands. We do this because many applications (like CAD or PowerPoint) require single commands to be recognized with high accuracy while rejecting other spoken words. The result is that if continuous commands are not allowed, the system requires a 600 millisecond delay between commands or it will not recognize it. "Allow Continuous Commands" is an option selectable per template from the Template Editor screen. This will solve the system lag issue. Refer to the User Guide for tips on optimizing VR Commander for Games. I recently ordered your DSP-500 headset package, do I need any special drivers or software to use this headset? No, Windows XP systems can be configured for the USB headset through your computer's control panel>sounds and audio devices>audio. As an option, free software called PerSono can be downloaded from Plantronics to assist with configuration. You can get that software at www.plantronics.com. How Do I evoke a macro using VR Commander? New features in VR Commander allow any file or script to be run using a voice command. Simply create a new command in the template editor, select the command type to run a file or script, navigate to the file location and save your template. See the User Guide for more details. Are Version 2.1 created templates compatible with Version 3.0? Yes, all V2.1 templates can be used with V3.0. See the Upgrade Guide for more details. What is the difference between V3.0 and V3.1? V3.1 included context sensitive on-line help. The program functionality is the same as V3.0 My license seems to hang for a long period before starting. Then it returns a message "program not authorized". What is wrong? We see this happen occasionally due to interference between VR Commander's license technology and some anti- virus programs. eTrust from CA is one such program that we know interfers. VR Commander users a third party licensing technology. Our supplier is working on the permanent fix. In the mean time, please disable your anti virus program while you are validating VR Commander with your permanent key. If I use version 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3 do I need to upgrade to version 3.1.4? No, all 3.1 and 3.2 versions offer the same functionality. The difference between 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.1.4 and 3.2 is regarding license technology and trial period adjustment and the standard templates that are included in the download. All pre-made templates are available on this website. You do not need the 3.2 version to get them. If you are currently holding a valid license, you will not need to upgrade until the next significant release is generated.
